Obstacle
Mounting on the near side from a block within 25 seconds.
Marked area (poles or paint or sand or flour or spray chalk) of 2.5m long x 2.5m wide containing a mounting block
Objective
The rider to lead horse in to marked area, when front hooves enter area, timing shall begin. Stirrups should be up or crossed over the saddle. The timing shall cease when rider has mounted & both feet are in the stirrups. (Please check girth secure before starting obstacle).
After obstacle turn right.

2E
Obstacle.
Raised Trot Poles (simulated steps)
3 raised poles approx. 10-15cm off ground, 3m apart just in from track.
Objective.
In trot (a circle between elements may be ridden to gain transition)- ride over simulated steps. Aim is to complete poles without touches or knock downs.

3Between K & M
Obstacle.
Corridor A corridor of 8m long by 0.7m wide, (either using poles, paint, sand, flour or spray chalk) placed in off track.
Objective.
Ride through corridor without touching the bars whilst keeping to chosen gait (walk, trot, canter).

4B In from track
Obstacle.
Simulated ditch.
2 poles parallel to A&C sides of arena 40cm apart.
Objective.
To negotiate an obstacle in the path of horse & rider, without hooves stepping in ditch or touching / dislodging poles. To demonstrate willingness of horse maintaining chosen pace as well as correct approach & aids of rider. Can be ridden from walk, trot or canter.

5HEK
Obstacle.
Simulated low branches
Objective.
At chosen pace either walk, trot or canter, duck close to horse as though riding through low branches, whilst maintaining chosen pace & balance of horse / rider.

Obstacle.
Immobility
Using marked area in Obstacle 1.
Objective.
The horse must remain standing within area for 10 seconds, without rider holding on to reins.
